If an area is locked, compare its message with your main quest’s exact stage before grinding more levels. If you can enter but lose, inspect your equipped gear and observe the fight. Current sources do not establish a universal battle-zone unlock level.

How combat works
Combat is presented as animated, real-time encounters, with equipment, skills and combat consumables contributing to your options. The useful first step is observation: are you unable to enter an area, losing a fight, or winning a fight without advancing the objective? These are different problems.
Before altering several parts of your setup, watch an attempt and decide what you want the next change to fix. Use the comparisons below as a troubleshooting method, not a damage formula.
Why is this battle zone locked?
- Read the lock message. Record any stage, objective or requirement actually displayed.
- Open the main quest. Compare its target with the battle you are currently running.
- Check the exact stage. Hotfix #5 added clearer stage references to quest objectives.
- Complete the displayed requirement and recheck. Do not substitute a guessed account-level threshold.
- If it still disagrees, document it. Include your version, quest text and lock message in a report to the developer.
Before the next attempt
| What you observe | What to inspect | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot enter the area | Lock message and active quest stage | Resolve the displayed requirement before changing your build. |
| Cannot equip an upgrade | Item requirement tooltip | Check the reason shown; owning an item does not prove it is usable. |
| Losing before the enemy falls | Equipped gear, available defensive effects and consumable settings | Try a relevant change, then compare another attempt. |
| Fight is taking too long | Weapon fit, usable skills and current combat stats | Compare a targeted gear or skill change. |
| Fight won, objective unchanged | Exact enemy and stage in the main quest | Check that the encounter matches the stated target. |
These checks do not establish a guaranteed ready/not-ready score. Enemy requirements, full damage calculations and exact recommended loadouts are currently unverified.
Gear and build preparation
Inspect actual stats and requirements before replacing equipment. Item rarity or merchant price alone does not tell you whether a piece solves your current fight. Keep the comparison tied to the weakness you observed.
If a new item cannot be equipped, check the reason shown by the game. The removal of level requirements for crafted tools in Hotfix #3 should not be read as a removal of requirements for every weapon and armor piece.
Use the gathering-versus-combat decision before spending points to solve a problem that might simply be an unequipped item.
Accuracy advice changed after launch
Hotfix #4 revised accuracy and the hit-chance baseline, and updated the character-stat tooltip. Read the current tooltip instead of applying a demo-era miss-rate assumption.
That patch does not provide a complete damage-per-second model. This guide does not convert accuracy into a predicted win rate or claim that additional accuracy is always the best upgrade. Read the combat changes ↗
Acts, dungeons and Slayer areas
The official store describes dungeons and Slayer areas, but their complete current entry requirements are not verified in this review. Use the requirement shown on the specific area you want to enter.
For an area or boss objective, keep a small record of the target stage, the entry message and the result of the last attempt. That information is more useful for the next decision than an unsupported recommended-level number.
If the game still appears stuck
Confirm you are using the intended save and inspect the current version and main quest text. Avoid overwriting or deleting a save as an experiment. If the game shows contradictory requirements, capture the details and report them through the official Steam discussions.
Hotfix #3 corrected a quest-advancement issue, but that does not prove it fixes every locked-area report. Do not repeatedly grind an unrelated encounter just because an old post calls it a workaround.
Common questions
How do I unlock the next battle zone?
Start with the lock message and your main quest’s exact target stage. A universal level gate or complete area-unlock sequence is currently unverified.
Why did winning a fight not advance my quest?
Compare the enemy and stage with the quest objective. Recent patches clarified stage targets and fixed one quest-advancement issue; an unrelated fight is not evidence that the displayed requirement is complete.
Are there four or six acts?
The official sources reviewed disagree: the launch announcement says Acts 1–4 while the store description mentions Acts 1–6. We flag the conflict rather than publish an assumed endgame route.
Can this site tell me whether my gear will win?
Not reliably yet. A readiness calculator would need verified enemy data and combat formulas. Use the preparation checks above without treating them as a guaranteed result.
